Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Clear the Floor and Protect Valuables

  • Remove clutter: Pick up toys, shoes, clothes, books, and loose items from the floors.
  • Move small furniture: Relocate light items like dining chairs, floor lamps, plant stands, and small tables to an uncarpeted area.
  • Secure breakables: Remove fragile items, picture frames, and electronics from any larger furniture that the cleaners might need to shift.
  • Pin  up draperies: If curtains or bed skirts touch the floor, pin or tie them back at least six inches above the carpet to keep them dry and  protect them from the equipment.

Pre-Cleaning Prep

  • Pre-vacuum  the carpet: While the professionals do the deep cleaning, a thorough      pre-vacuum removes loose surface dirt and pet hair. This allows the commercial extraction equipment to focus entirely on deep, embedded soil.
  • Identify  problem areas: Walk the rooms beforehand and note specific stains, high-traffic wear patterns, or pet odors to point out during the pre-inspection. Knowing what caused a stain often dictates the chemical treatment used.

Logistics and Safety

  • Secure pets and children: Cleaning involves loud machinery, hot water, chemical solutions, and trip hazards (like thick hoses). Pets should be crated or secured in a closed room, and children should be kept away from active work zones.
  • Ensure clear access: Technicians need a clear, unobstructed pathway from the      entrance to the rooms being cleaned. Additionally, the exterior door will likely remain ajar to accommodate hoses, making pet security even more critical.
  • Provide parking: If the company uses a truck-mounted extraction system, they will need close, unobstructed parking in the driveway or directly in front of the home to reach the interior.

Plan for the Drying Phase

  • Prepare the HVAC: Plan to turn the HVAC system's fan to the "ON" position and have ceiling or floor fans ready to circulate air, which dramatically speeds up the drying time.
  • Prepare  for slip hazards: Have clean rubber-soled shoes or protective booties      ready. Walking from damp carpet to hard surfaces like tile or hardwood creates an extreme slip hazard, and walking barefoot on damp carpet can transfer natural skin oils that attract new dirt.

For occupied homes, we ask that someone be present to greet our team. For vacant properties (rentals, homes for sale, etc.), no one needs to be on-site as long as we have a secure method of entry.
